freedom in postmodernism is the vast quantity of multiple choices available
to the individual. the common denominator in all of them is this: none
of them really matters. you can choose any ideology you like, pick up
any sexual idendity, work from home or at a company, browse the net
for the most obscure piece of information. as long as you keep on consuming
and producing, you can follow any of the multiple paths of prefabricated
life. the everpresent undercurrent of capitalism renders anything pointless.
like the unlimited variety of products
in the supermarkets, any of the available choices is but a plastic,
unreal, ultimately empty one. you can pick up any role, but you can
be nothing.
the new man is basically weightless. like
information. and thus easily transfered and manipulated. subjective
is dead - we face the depressing triumph of a new kind of objectivism.
don't bother anymore:
THERE IS NOTHING TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP.
